A fully clothed body was found on a Florida beach on May 24. The investigators found out that it was 37-year-old Beranton J. Whisenant Jr who worked as a federal prosecutor in the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Miami. He died of a gunshot wound and it was recently discovered that he actually killed himself.
The Hollywood Police Department released a statement in which they confirm that his death was caused by a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
CBS Miami reports officers pulled his body out of the water and covered him with a sheet in May.
Whisenant, a father of three children, joined the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Miami in January. According to the court records, he was handling visa and passport fraud cases. Before his death, Whisenant was investigating Debbie Wasserman Schultz and the voter fraud at DNC.
Whisenant spent 13 years in private legal practice mostly dealing with asbestos lawsuits, CBS News reports.
However, the circumstances around Whisenant’s death are even stranger now. Although officials said that his death was a suicide, no gun was found near the crime scene.
Sun Sentinel reported: Detectives and a medical examiner found Whisenant had shot himself in the head, Hollywood police said. Police searched for two blocks north and south of the crime scene but couldn’t find the gun or any other weapon.
If he really killed himself, the gun would have been right next to his body or at least on the beach. Something fishy is going on in this particular investigation. The last information about the gun actually indicates that this may not have been a suicide. May he rest in peace. What do you think? Tell us in the comment section!
